From extensive correction bone surgeries, to tumor removals, dentals, spays, neuters, in-hospital treatment care, hospitalization, day-to-day nursing care and medicating, monitoring and really caring for our patients, x-rays, ultrasounds and more - we keep busy fufilling our passion for excellent pet care. We are currently hiring for the position of full-time veterinary technician and we are looking for a positive and professional individual to join our team of experienced animal lovers. VETERINARY TECHNICIAN JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES Veterinary Technicians are responsible for the treatment, care and well-being of all patients brought to the back for exams, treatments, surgeries and boarding. Working with our Doctors, our Technicians are responsible for running a smooth and effective work flow in a clean, well stocked and neat working environment. We rely on our Technicians to make quality decisions with and without Doctor Supervision. Our Technicians are expected to remain positive and professional when communicating with clients and co-workers alike. Technicians are in a leadership position providing learning and training to our Kennel/Vet Tech Assistant Team. Technicians are expected to supervise our less experienced employees and delegate certain side-work for training and/or time management purposes. Listed below are common Technician Responsibilities: Complete Treatments/Medications for Hospitalized Patients, Administer Medications to Boarding Pets, Calculate and Prepare Anesthetics, Draw Blood, Place IV-Catheters, Prep Patients for Surgery, Assist Doctors in Surgery, Intubations, Perform Canine and Feline Teeth Scaling & Polishing, Dental Extractions, Monitor & Recover Anesthesia Patients, Write up Treatments in Charts, Enter Charges using Cornerstone, Perform X-Rays, Collect Urine by Cystocentisis, Obtain Fecal Samples with Fecal Loops, Set Up & Read Fecal Float Exams, Express Anal Glands - Internally, Clean Ears, Flush Ears, Clip and Scrub Wounds/Infections, Nail Trims, Safe & Effective Animal Restraint, Assist with Doctor Exams, Perform/Delegate Treatments, Occasionally Tech Exam Rooms (weight, temp, sample collection), Clean Surgical Instruments, Run Autoclave, Fold Surgery Laundry, Prepare Surgical Packs, Restock Work Supplies Daily, Daily Inventory - Pull Cards as Needed, Call Owners after Surgery, Pick-Up Calls as Needed, Give After-Care Instructions to Owners at Pick-Up We require at least 1 - 2 years of hands-on experience working as a technician, a positive attitude, compassion, integrity and reliability.
