What we do:
The Materials & Process Technician I - Mechanical Test Lab applies technical knowledge and expertise to support the Mechanical Lab. This role is hands-on, working with M&P Engineering staff toward building & implementing conventional and novel materials and process solutions that lead to the certification & production of new AAM vehicles. This position collaborates with M&P, Manufacturing, & Design Engineering verticals during the development process.
This position will be required to work on-site 5 days a week.
What you can do:

• 
  
• Read and follow material specifications, process specifications, work orders that support manufacturing & ensure quality
  
• Read and interpret design drawings and CAD models
  
• Support test plan execution for method development, materials characterization, and allowable generation
  
• Perform coupon preparation, dimensional measurements & inspection of test coupons to ensure they conform with the applicable test standards or engineering definition
  
• Perform strain gage application of coupons as required
  
• Perform mechanical testing of coupons using Instron Test Frames
  
• Responsible for stringent documentation of all work including photo collection and process notes/observations
  
• Responsible for Test Lab consumable material inventory management and general housekeeping of the Mechanical Test Lab
  
• Assist in the development of Job Hazard Assessment (JHA) documentation for various shop operations
  
• Contribute to root cause analysis and failure investigations of development parts and process equipment
  
• May require up to 10% of domestic and international travel
  
• Other duties as assigned
  
  What you can contribute:

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED required
    
  • Minimum three (3) years of related experience (an equivalent combination of formal training or certificate courses and experience may be considered)
    
  • Technical experience in one or more of the areas of: Mechanical Testing, Analytical testing, Composite layup, Mechanical Assembly, or 3D Printing
    
  • Knowledge of various ASTM, ISO, or other test methods relating to mechanical testing of both composite materials and metallic materials
    
  • Operational knowledge of Mechanical Test Lab equipment including Instron Bluehill software
    
  • Strong mechanical assembly aptitude, ability to use various hand tools, power tools, and handheld measuring tools
    
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    
  • Proactive delivery of communication and follow up
    
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
    
  • Must have the ability to independently prioritize and accomplish work within time constraints
    
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite products Excel, Word, & PowerPoint
    
  • Proficiency with Atlassian products Confluence & JIRA
    
  • Understanding of a first principles' approach to problem solving
