Project Manager (PM) will execute a variety of transportation
assignments involving highways, local roadways, bicycle facilities,
and bridge capital improvement projects. This position requires
general familiarity with a broad field of engineering and knowledge
of the effects of the work upon other disciplines. The successful
candidate must be able to work independently on various projects as
assigned by the Transportation Director. They may oversee the
entire design process, serve as a project manager or assist as a
technical expert on a specialized design. The PM will review
progress, evaluate results, and make recommendations. The PM will
develop plans and reports for transportation projects according to
established engineering standards and local, state or federal
policies and requirements. The qualified candidate will be
self-motivated, and will be comfortable working in a multitasking,
fast-paced environment; meeting time schedules and deadlines; and
working independently as well as within a team environment. Your
Role -
- Ability to develop and maintain close working relationships
with clients;
- Assess the requirements of a project, break the project into
tasks, and work with the Department Manager to determine scope of
work, budget and staffing needs;
- Write a scope of work for transportation design services based
on preliminary review and meetings with the client; Manage and
prepare engineering studies, schematic design and final design of
highways, intersections, and roadways including plans,
specifications and estimates;
- Lead, assign, and review work of project design team. Check
progress of work and identify changes of scope or additional
services;
- Coordinate all aspects of project documentation within company
and externally with clients; Promote use of and participate in
development of company design quality and production
standards;
- Act as a technical advisor to less experienced engineers and
technicians; manage and mentor staff;
- Acquire new projects from existing and potential clients;
- Other duties as assigned. Qualifications
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in California
-required;
- A minimum of ten years' relevant experience preferred;
- Current relevant transportation engineering experience in
Southern California required; Experience with Caltrans
preferred;
- Experience assisting with writing proposals highly
desired;
- Strong communication, report writing, organization, analytical
and interpersonal skills;
- Familiarity with relevant transportation engineering codes and
industry standards;
- Working knowledge of stormwater and utility design a plus;
- BSCE required Salary Range: -$123,000 - $160,000+, depending on
