At Amwins, we win together - and have a good time doing it. Amwins Access Admitted Placement Services -has an opportunity for a Vice President, Production Underwriter. The primary function of the Underwriter is the marketing and placement of commercial lines business. Our Underwriters are -responsible for placement of new business submissions and/or remarketing renewal accounts with relevant, competitive insurance carriers and binding the insurance coverage on behalf of Amwins' retail agencies. The Underwriter works with carrier underwriters, agency sales team members, and agencies within designated regions. Underwriters leverage their understanding of the carrier landscape and respective underwriting appetites to determine available markets to help build a profitable book of business. They are given wide latitude in promoting and marketing products, designing portfolios of products and solutions for potential clients, advising potential and prospective clients, and performing other consultative or servicing activities in support of a client's use of Amwins' products. • Collaborative, continuing education focused work environment Each Underwriter is a vital leader of our production teams, -providing:
  • Increase direct written premium growth through new business production and renewal retention with a customer-oriented focus
  • Build relationships with agencies and analyze accounts to prioritize and develop action plans
  • Utilize independent judgment and market knowledge to evaluate risk on a case by case and
    book of business basis
  • Liaise with carrier personnel and retail agents daily to assist with placement, retention, and resolution of risks
  • Maintains discretion over commission splits to pursuant to agency relationships, product, cost structure, etc.
  • Develop highly collaborative internal relationships with Agency Sales, Underwriters and Brokers, and identify and follow-up on cross selling opportunities when appropriate
  • Observe market shifts and proactively facilitate changes with team leaders
  • Ensure quality and volume of submissions to drive growth goals
  • Offers creativity and passion for finding solutions; always considering the larger scope in whatever solution that may be provided
  • Play a key role in achieving contingency status with multiple carriers through appropriate selection of risks and attaining (or exceeding) growth targets
  • Maintain technical industry expertise through continuing education and developmental opportunities
  • Regarded and utilized as a valuable team member within the PL and CL teams as well as organization (e.g. E&S, Agency sales, Service teams, etc.)
  • Participate in special projects (book rolls), national expansion roll outs, Amwins initiatives and interdepartmental teams and task forces We are looking for people with: -
    • 4-8 years retail insurance agency or wholesaler experience preferred
    • Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, Insurance Studies or related field required (equivalent agency experience will be considered)
    • Working knowledge of underwriting principles for property and casualty insurance (ARM, CPCU, P/C agent license appreciated)
    • Experience with carrier rating platforms
    • Strong in strategic analysis, sales, judgment, customer service, and negotiation
    • Excellent oral/written communication, organization/planning and teamwork
