DescriptionThe Senior Financial Analyst (SFA) is responsible for various loan accounting assignments that relate to internal financial reports, financial analysis, preparation and review of investor reports, accounting for loan transactions, data management, account reconciliation, and other projects as assigned.The SFA is expected to use their skills to aid in the preparation, evaluation, and review of complex information and/or reports used by internal management, external regulatory financial filings and investor presentation reports. The SFA will be a self-starter, inquisitive and able to deal with complex financial data and ambiguity, using their skills to analyze and summarize complex data for management, specifically in the areas of internal and external financial reporting and other purposes as necessary.RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and record journal entries for the loan accounting department.
  • Prepare month-end general ledger reconciliations for loans.
  • Create, prepare, and distribute monthly and ad hoc financial reports for management.
  • Perform financial statement analysis and variance explanations; highlight and recommend solutions to management.
  • Support Loan Servicing and Credit Administration with loan accounting and analysis, and determining proper accounting treatment.
  • Record gain/loss on loan sales and transfers to loans held for sale.
  • Prepare valuations for MSRs, equity warrants, and SBA discounts.
  • Prepare/review AP accruals for loan related expenses.
  • Coordinate the FAS 91 cost study for various loan products.
  • Collaborate with Credit Administration and Special Assets on various projects.
  • Assist with automating loan reporting leveraging a data warehouse; prepare business requirements and implement new reporting metrics for management.
  • Recommend and design new reports or enhance existing reporting to reflect changes in policy, market conditions, or to incorporate concepts expressed by senior management.
  • Create and ensure the accuracy of internal and external reports including SEC filings on Forms 10-K, 10-Q and 8-K, investor and management presentations, and committee presentations.
  • Prepare and/or review regulatory Call reports for the Bank as related to loans.
  • Remain current on FASB and SEC developments.QUALIFICATIONS
    • 5+ years of accounting and/or financial analysis experience at a similar financial institution.
    • Intermediate to advanced experience with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
    • Experience working with regulators, auditors, accountants, and others in the industry.
    • Knowledgeable on loan related accounting including loan receivables under ASC 310, credit losses under ASC 326, and transfers and servicing under ASC 860.
