    The Research Analyst works closely with the Associate Vice Chancellor of Institutional Research and Planning and the other members of the Office of Institutional Research and Planning on education policy analyses, environmental scans, and data (external and internal) reporting responsibilities in order to support the institutional planning and strategic decision-making of the University.

  • Receive general direction from the Associate Vice Chancellor, Institutional Research & Planning
  • General Direction - indicates that the incumbent receives guidance in terms of broad goals and overall objectives and is responsible for establishing the methods to attain them
  • Generally the incumbent is in charge of an area of work; and typically formulates policy for this area but does not necessarily have final authority for approving policy


    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 100% of time
    • Conduct environmental scans, competitive analyses, and other research briefs to support the development of new academic programs and the revision of existing academic programs
    • Respond to and complete external reporting requests, including surveys for accreditation, compliance, and institutional rankings
    • Support university survey research efforts, including survey instrument development, survey logistics, and preparation of the final survey reports
    • Perform and prepare an annual audit report of online courses and/or competencies to ensure compliance with policies related to attendance, regular and substantive faculty interactions, and prior learning assessment
    • Collaborate with various university departments to meet internal and external reporting needs
    • Track and analyze various university datasets in order to report on reoccurring and/or ad hoc data requests
    • Special projects as identified by the Executive Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs/Provost and the Associate Vice Chancellor of Institutional Research and Planning
    • Perform other duties, as assigned


      Special Conditions of Employment: Position may be required to work flexible hours particularly given campuses' extended hours of operation, and may require occasional weekend and/or evening work. All applicants are subject to a background check and criminal history review. Working conditions are normal for an office environment.

      • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Research, Evaluation, Education Policy, or a related field
      • Master's degree in a field related to Statistics, Research, Evaluation, or Education Policy, preferred
      • One (1) to two (2) years of professional experience in higher education research and data management

        • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint
        • Knowledge of quality assurance, data integrity, and data confidentiality
        • Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing complex data
        • Skill in communicating effectively in writing, as appropriate for the needs of university stakeholders
        • Excellent written and oral communication skills
        • Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, and analytical skills
        • Excellent time management skills to meet multiple critical deadlines
        • Ability to recognize and analyze various research and data trends
        • Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment while completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail
