Allergan Aesthetics Biological Research is seeking a highly motivated and innovative candidate who will contribute to multi-disciplinary research in a highly collaborative environment. The successful candidate for this position will work independently and contribute to projects aimed at characterizing protein-based therapeutics. He/she will be developing and carrying out a variety of assays to evaluate the activity and functionality of therapeutic proteins. Strong knowledge and technical expertise in protein/enzyme characterization is preferred. This individual will organize, analyze, and interpret results, come forward with recommendations, or understanding of the results, and communicate and present in team meetings and reports. The ideal candidate will be able to propose and design assays and have exceptional troubleshooting skills.

  • Independently design and conduct critical experiments that further project goals.
  • Implement and may innovate new experimental protocols/techniques.
  • Understand the goal and maintain a high proficiency in his/her projects as well as the overall program.
  • Interpret results and draw conclusions from own multistage experiments, note significant deviations, then suggest, design, and pursue relevant experiments.
  • Understand relevant scientific literature and apply theoretical framework to solving problems within scientific discipline in a timely manner.
  • Perform routine and complex tasks competently and independently and generate reliable and consistent results.
  • Impact projects mostly through lab and/or pilot plant based activities.
  • Responsible for compliance with all applicable Corporate and Divisional policies and procedures.
  • Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding code of conduct, safety, appropriate handling of materials, controlled drug and radioactive compounds, GxP compliance, and animal care where applicable.
    • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education with approximately 5-7 years of experience, or master's degree or equivalent education with approximately two years of experience in biology, biochemistry, molecular/cellular biology, or other related discipline.
    • Strong knowledge and technical expertise in protein/enzyme characterization including SDS-PAGE, western bots, DLS/aggregation, HPLC (reverse phase/ size exclusion/ ionic), enzyme assays, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), and RT-PCR.
    • Experience with surface plasmon resonance (SPR) and fluorescence techniques highly preferred.
    • Strong skill in mass spectrometry, size-exclusion chromatography with multi-angle light scattering (SEC-MALS), and mammalian cell culture is preferable. Applicable to California Applicants Only
