Under the general direction of the Senior Director, Annual Giving,
the Leadership Gift Officer is responsible for soliciting and
securing sustaining annual gifts of $1,000 to $25,000. The
Leadership Gift Officer is a fundraising professional who works
collaboratively with the Annual Giving team and Development
Officers across campus to identify and cultivate donors at the
leadership giving level, connecting them to the appropriate areas
when major gift capacity is identified with a goal of increasing
fundraising activity to $500,000 annually within three years. The
primary objective of the leadership level giving program is to
increase the number of donors who give annually to UC Irvine at the
$1,000+ level, ultimately increasing the amount of private annual
support raised each year. Concentration on renewal, upgrades and
acquisition within the sustaining giving prospect pool will assist
in raising more private support each year and enhancing the major
gift pipeline.
Compensation Range:
$80,000 - $86,000

Required:
* 2-5 years of professional fundraising experience, preferably at a
higher education institution; or equivalent combination of
education/experience. Campaign fundraising experience
preferred.
* Experience preparing and conducting solicitations via phone,
correspondence and in person, including making cold calls.
* Ability to prepare written gift proposals, fund agreements and
collateral materials. Strong skills in maintaining
confidentiality.
* Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience
/ training.
* Team-oriented strategist able to effectively manage complex
situations involving multiple and sometimes competing
constituencies. Resourcefulness in finding appropriate solutions to
problems and initiative in presenting alternatives and implementing
solutions to ensure effective change. Ability to anticipate
problems and take necessary action to eliminate or mitigate
potential negative effects. Strong organizational, analytical and
critical thinking skills, including skills in creative and
effective decision-making and problem identification / avoidance /
resolution, and project management skills.
* Thorough working knowledge of fundraising, donor relations, and
public relations concepts, principles, procedures, and techniques.
Understanding of the needs and interests of donors in order to
develop relationships between them and the University.
Understanding of academic, research and education functions and
operating principals of a major research university Ability to work
independently with department, school and institutional goals in
mind.
* Uses initiative to organize and follow through with complex tasks
to meet deadlines. Strong knowledge of applicable laws, rules,
regulations, policies, etc. Strong written and interpersonal
communication skills to establish and maintain good working
relationships throughout the organization and with outside
constituencies. Ability to prepare complex and detailed proposals
and related materials. Skill in communicating persuasively, both
orally and in writing, about private philanthropy in general and in
particular as it applies to UCI.
* Skills to use a personal computer and computer software programs
at the level of sophistication required for the University
Advancement team. Proven ability to use MS Office Suite and
database programs. Knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel, and
PowerPoint. Familiarity with the Internet and how to conduct
searches.
Preferred:
* Working knowledge of Salesforce or comparable a donor/prospect
database system Thorough working knowledge of the location, its
vision, mission, goals, objectives, achievements and
infrastructure.
Special Conditions Required:
* Required to drive on occasion in order to perform the routine or
essential job responsibilities for the position.
* Must possess a valid California driver license and participate in
the DMV Pull Notice Program.
