In this job, you will work in the Grid Control Center (GCC) directly supporting the teams whose collective responsibility is to ensure SCE electrical system reliability. This position will be primarily responsible for developing and maintaining many key programs and tools utilized in performing critical real-time shift activities associated with real-time system studies, contingency analysis results, interacting with internal and external agencies, and coordinating emergency actions with California Independent System Operator (CAISO) and/or adjacent utilities. In addition to supporting many technical aspects of shift activity, the candidate will also provide an overall leadership, mentoring, training, and counseling role for personnel within other Grid Control groups such as Operations Planning & Analysis, Capital Integration, and Compliance & Training.     • Review Energy Management System (EMS) displays, realtime calculations, RTView displays, Remedial Action Scheme (RAS) displays, and operational nomograms in support of maintaining effective situational awareness in the control center operating environment. Coordinate updates with Power Systems Control group.
    • Prepare for seasonal operations by reviewing and revising SCE's firm load shedding application/data for System Operating Bulletin 21.
    • Review, and coordinate updates to, Inter-Control Center Communications Protocol (ICCP) Object IDs for the exchange of incoming and outgoing EMS data between SCE, neighboring utilities and the California Independent System Operator (CISO).
    • Review and revise as required System Operating Bulletins, Operating Procedures, Contingency Plans, and other Grid Control documentation.
    • Provide mentoring to Transmission Dispatchers on new and existing computer applications.
    • Maintain the Portal page for the Grid Control Center, including GCC notifications content.
    • Will participate in required internal and external training courses.
    • Responsible for reviewing, comprehending, and applying operational policy and procedural changes in relation to the control center atmosphere.
    • Provide support for the GCC Trainer on various GCC Training activities, including GCC seminars, GCC SOTC training classes, WECC/NERC/NATF audits, and other training requirements as needed.
    • Provide support to GCC Management, to include assisting in the development, interpretation, and implementation of GCC operational policy and procedures. Qualifications
      The essentials
      • Seven or more years of experience in bulk power transmission, sub-transmission, and distributions systems operations.
      • Ability to obtain NERC System Operator certification at Reliability Coordinator Level in 3 months or less The preferred
        • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field
        • Has current NERC System Operator certification or has the ability to obtain NERC System Operator certification at Reliability Coordinator Level.
        • Experience in operation of the SCE electric system with a direct effect on system reliability or SCE as a corporation
        • Experience in monitoring and overseeing all aspects of shift activity at the SCE GCC related to ensuring reliable operation of the SCE electric system in a real-time environment
        • Operational knowledge of the SCE electric system and relevant neighboring utility electrical systems for understanding of reliable interconnected system operations.
        • Experience analyzing electric system operating conditions by utilizing advanced computer applications. You should know ---
          • Work Mode: When a return-to-office date has been determined, this position's work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.
