Position Summary:

Today's UC Irvine Stem Cell Research Center is a dynamic center encompassing a diverse array of interdisciplinary investigators that span the schools of Medicine, Biological Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Engineering, Arts and Law. Our state-of-the-art, LEED Platinum certified research and clinical building houses 23 of our 50 center faculty members. Center faculty have obtained more than $170 million dollars in grant and foundation funds. Our research programs include an National Institutes of Health (NIH)-sponsored T32 training grant, state of the art shared equipment, research services programs and a seminar series.

The incumbent, under the general direction of the Communication Manager, serves as an integral part of the administrative team of the Stem Cell Research Center (SCRC). The incumbent provides administrative support for the SCRC Training Grant program and serves as the events lead for SCRC-sponsored special events and educational seminars. This position requires experience in excellent organizational skills, demonstrated ability to prioritize workload, ability to handle frequent interruptions, work independently, use initiative and follow through with complex tasks to meet deadlines. Demonstrated computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet, electronic mail, and web browser applications and ability to function well in a team environment are also required. Incumbent must be available to work onsite a minimum of 3 days per week and may be required to work outside normal business hours on occasion.

$24.66 - $25.80

Basic skills to analyze and research information and learn to synthesize large amounts of data with strong attention to detail. Demonstrated computer skills and software experience using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook Calendar. Basic communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality concerning personnel data. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with faculty, staff, and students throughout the University who may be from diverse economic and social backgrounds. Demonstrated ability to analyze and comprehend complex issues, personalities, and political environment using independent judgment, leadership, tact, diplomacy, and initiative. Skills to learn organization-specific and other computer application programs. Knowledge of UCI Policies and Procedures pertaining to personnel/payroll, contracts and grants, travel, purchasing and reimbursements. Demonstrated analytical skills to recognize issues/situations that require action, define problems by performing research and fact finding, present alternatives in an analytical and logical format, and formulate and recommend solutions. Communication and interpersonal skills to disseminate information to a wide variety of faculty, staff, and students and to explain policies and procedures. Skill in working independently, tracking detailed, longitudinal, multi-step projects and follow-through on assignments with minimal direction. Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload taking into consideration multiple deadlines, frequent interruptions and fluctuating priorities.


Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
