The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics
(www.aiaa.org) in Reston, VA has an exciting career opportunity for
a Forum Program Executive to guide the development and integration
of aeronautics and related content into programming for its
AVIATION Forum, and to lead the execution of the event and its
long-term vision as an AIAA content platform.AIAA has a Flexible
Workplace, where staff work primarily remote, but are required to
attend meetings in the office and collaborate in person as needed.
Reporting to the Senior Director, Forum Content Strategy, the
incumbent will work closely with an aeronautics subject matter
expert; a Guiding Coalition comprised of aviation thought-leaders;
AIAA volunteers, members, and staff; outside partners and
consultants to ensure that the content and format of the event and
its associated outcomes are aligned with customer expectations and
AIAA strategic goals.--- Lead the execution of AVIATION and the
long-term vision of the event as a content platform and AIAA
product--- Guide the development and integration of Aeronautics
Domain and appropriate adjacent content into programming for and in
support of AVIATION--- Lead the execution of AVIATION and the
long-term vision of the event as a content platform and AIAA
product--- Organize and lead the internal cross-functional staff
team to implement these responsibilities and ensure that attendee,
partner, and organizational expectations are met
ACCOUNTABILITY:
- Provide strategic, operational, and financial decision-making
authority for the AVIATION Forum in close consultation and
collaboration with an aeronautics subject matter expert (Domain
Lead) acting as the AVIATION Executive Producer and other
stakeholders
- Assume full project ownership to ensure deadlines, schedules,
and budgets are met through the leadership of internal and external
resources
- Research important industry topics and keep up to date with
industry trends to ensure AVIATION content is relevant to the
intended audience and will be well-served by the event format and
programming
- Establish and maintain relationships with key professionals,
industry leaders, C-level executives throughout the year
- Develop the content strategy for AVIATION based upon AIAA's
Aeronautics vision, Guiding Coalition input, market analysis,
customer feedback, and crowd-sourced input
- Coordinate delivery of AVIATION content strategy and program
components on schedule to optimize marketability of the
product
- Develop operational requirements including the types of
activities/events required to fulfill the AVIATION content
strategy
- Collaborate with Events staff to create a compelling user
experience and customer value and to achieve overall financial
objectives
- Assemble and coordinate multiple cross-functional teams to
ensure clear communication and program and budget
accountability
- Facilitate recruitment and appointment of members of AVIATION
guiding coalition at the direction of the Aeronautics Domain Lead
and Executive Director
- Work closely with the Aeronautics Domain Lead, acting as the
AVIATION Executive Producer, and Guiding Coalition to identify
themes, focus areas, and high-level content to be addressed across
the AVIATION program on an annual basis, and to secure the
participation of high level, industry-leading speakers
- Work closely with the AIAA Publications team and volunteer
committees to review, select, and organize community-contributions,
including technical publications and collaborative sessions aligned
to the Aeronautics Domain multiyear roadmap
- Assess and recommend steps to balance the distribution of
community submitted content
- Collaborate with the AIAA Marketing and the combined internal
and external Sales team to set key indicators, revenue targets and
event pricing for registration, sponsorship and exhibits
- Collaborate in the definition and refinement of sales and
engagement opportunities particularly for nonendemic markets and
customers
- Collaborate with Marketing and Communications teams to inform
the direction of marketing, and communications strategy, including
social media channels and website development, to enable successful
execution by responsible team members
- Work closely with AIAA Project Manager to facilitate the
planning and execution of all AVIATION-related events throughout
the event cycle, including virtual and
onsiteREQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:--- Bachelor's degree, or
equivalent combination of education and experience, is required,
preferably in a science or engineering related field or in science
and technology policy.--- A minimum of five to ten (5-10) years
relevant and progressively responsible work experience required---
Association or non-profit product management experience highly
desired--- Incumbent should be creative, ambitious, passionate, and
intellectually curious about the development of aerospace and
complementary industries.--- Strong interest in aerospace, science,
technology, defense policy, and global cooperation highly
desired.--- Entrepreneurial mindset to take new product innovations
from concept to execution in a short period of time.ADDITIONAL
