Job Description:
Research Scientist - Flow Cytometry We are seeking a highly
motivated Research Scientist to work with a small team of
scientists and technologists to design, develop, validate, and
optimize novel, high complexity multicolor flow cytometry-based
assays for the development of high throughput clinical assays. Will
include evaluating the utility of custom developed antibodies and
their conjugates. The project team will utilize flow cytometry
technology to develop novel clinical assays, leveraging their deep
knowledge and understanding of current multi-color flow cytometry
instrumentation, antibody and fluorophore selection, and data
analysis methods. Job Qualifications: Advanced degree in life
sciences field or immunology. MS required, Ph.D. preferred. 5
years--- experience and demonstrated understanding and proficiency
with multicolor flow cytometry instrumentation Experience with
CLIA/CAP validation and operating regulations preferred
Responsibilities include: Responsible for all phases of assay
development and implementation, including feasibility, procedure
design and optimization, assay validation, SOP preparation, and
implementation of new assays. Independently design and execute
well-planned, hypothesis-driven experiments in support of assay
development. Guide associates in planning efficient,
cost-effective, and creative experiments. Lead multiple projects,
while mentoring research associates through individual experiments
and throughout the duration of projects as needed. Routinely
perform complex data analyses and mentor research associates and
peers through good data cleaning, analysis, and interpretation
practices. Actively participate in or lead the discussion of
experiment results and project status, risks, and plans forward.
Effectively generate and present experiment findings and project
progress and results in various forms, ranging from concise
spreadsheets to PowerPoint presentations. Responsible for various
administrative tasks necessary for department maintenance
(inventory management, equipment maintenance, etc.). Develop, and
guide associates through the development of Standard Operating
Procedures (SOPs) in accordance with CLIA regulations and any
applicable Laboratory Accreditation Standards, and other technical
documents through revisions and feedback. Ensure adherence to all
laboratory SOPs and troubleshoot issues in both experiments and
routinely performed procedures. Ensure project documentation,
including electronic laboratory notebooks, are sufficiently
maintained to evaluate, trouble-shoot and reproduce experimental
results Provide training and support to laboratory staff as needed,
primarily during the implementation of new procedures or
modifications based on assay optimization projects. Serve as a
technical resource to fellow department team members, especially
research associates, as they navigate individual projects and
experiments. Collaborate with various levels of laboratory staff
for completion of special projects as assigned. Other duties as
assigned Other: This role will have some flexibility in scheduling,
weekly schedules may vary depending on project developments and
needs While occasional telework is a possibility, this role must
regularly report to work on-site in our Irvine office Physical
demands: role holders will regularly sit and/or stand for long
periods of time. Role holders will split their time between an
office environment and the laboratory, where they will regularly
come into contact with chemical reagents and biological substances.

holders are aware of hazards and prepared to operate lab equipment
