Job Opening ID: 23654 Reports To: Ambul Care Patient Supervisor II Working Title: Access Representative Department: Psychiatry & Human Behavior Bargaining Unit: EX FLSA: Non-Exempt Payroll Job Code: 009097 Job Location: UCI Medical Center - Orange Percent of Time: 100% Work Schedule: 8-5, M-F Employee Class: Career Position Summary: Incumbent serves as first point of contact for patients in the clinic. Enters patient data to the registration system and verifies insurance and/or third party coverage. Handles inbound and outbound calls to patients to effectively schedule, confirm, modify or cancel appointments as a result of operational changes or patient request. Performs general clerical and reception duties. Compensation Range: $21.07 - $23.27 Department Website: Required: Ability to effectively read, write and speak English. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System. Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload. Ability to make simple calculations and perform simple math. Demonstrated experience using a computer, including data entry and retrieval. Demonstrated experience using multi-line telephone system. Demonstrated experience using office equipment such as a printer, copier, fax, and scanner. Minimum 6 months experience working in a customer service position plus 6 months in a call center setting/clinical setting with high call volume; OR 12 months experience working in a call center. Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job. Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties. Preferred: Bilingual skill in Spanish or Vietnamese or Chinese. Demonstrated experience working in a hospital or medical office setting. Demonstrated experience working in registration, scheduling and/or authorization process. Demonstrated experience working with a patient registration software system. Demonstrated knowledge of insurance programs and/or government programs. Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology. Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms. Final candidate subject to background check.
