Interstate Connecting Components (ICC) was founded in 1985 in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, as a small family-owned wholesaler of mil-spec circular connectors to U.S. Navy shipbuilders.

ICC has grown into one of the pre-eminent world-class distributors of the entire spectrum of electronic connectors, fiber optic connectors, connector accessories and tools, cable marking systems and supplies, and interconnect contacts. ICC sells to the leading defense contractors and commercial manufacturers world-wide, serving first-, second-, and third-tier OEMs in the aerospace, shipbuilding, avionics, telecommunications, and broadcast markets.

In addition, ICC does value-added assembly of its key connector lines from components under QPL from its principal manufacturers. Our T'DA(r) (Two Day Assembly) process, combined with our huge inventory, allows us to assemble your Mil-Spec connectors in 2 days or less - one of the fastest assembly times in the industry.

In January 2013, ICC joined the Mil-Aero division of Heilind Electronics -- the largest supplier of connector products in North America. Since then, we have expanded our capabilities even more.

By focusing solely on the complex world of connectors, ICC is able to offer comprehensive design and application engineering resources and expertise to support its customers' technical requirements and solve their interconnect problems. Now headquartered in Lumberton, New Jersey, near Philadelphia, with offices throughout the country, ICC is committed to the success of its customers.

  • To perform the position, you must be US Citizen due to contractual requirements with the US Navy.

Position overview

The major objective for this position is to increase sales in your assigned territory through growing existing customer accounts along with a large focus on creating new business relationships at smaller and new customers. You will be in the field calling on established OEMs, new OEM target accounts and contract manufacturing (CM) accounts. Your goal is to take Interstate Connecting Components, its franchised lines and services deeper into the accounts and be the indispensable and trusted go-to source.

Organization

A strong predictor of success for a Field Sales Representative is the ability to build relationships. You are the quarterback as you collaborate with the inside support team and other key departments to build solid relationships with our customers and suppliers built on Interstate Connecting Components performance, trust and innovation. Utilize all the resources, services and personnel that are at your disposal to make you and Interstate Connecting Components indispensable to the customer.

Performance Objectives

  • Before you start the journey, its important that you have the roadmap. Within the first 2 weeks, take the initiative to meet with your branch leadership to understand the Company vision, key Company objectives and most important your individual objectives & expectations. Set up systems to measure your progress toward meeting or exceeding your objectives each month.
  • Within the first 30 days With the support of your Field Sales Manager, learn the Interstate Connecting Components system and the sales tools you will be using on a daily basis to help organize, track, and follow up your sales activities. During this time, also with the assistance of your FSM, you will proactively introduce yourself to your top 10 20 accounts and also your top 5 supplier reps in person.
  • Within the first 60 days With the support of your FSM, you will meet with the remainder of your supplier reps and account base in person. Meet with your inside sales team to review your top 20 accounts and discuss engagement & opportunities. By this time you should also be comfortable with the CRM and sales tools. You should start loading Opportunities into the Optrack on a monthly basis.
  • Within 90 days You will meet with your FSM where the two of you will strategically plan your coverage of the territory by ranking your accounts (A, B or C). All assigned training modules should be completed by this time. Also, you should be scheduling regular meetings with your supplier reps to discuss business opportunities, sharing account information, and developing strategies to pursue opportunities.

Experience

A Field Sales Representative for Interstate Connecting Components needs to have at least two years of sales/marketing experience; preferably in electronic component distribution or a closely related field. Ideally a business or technical bachelors degree from a four year college or university or an equivalent combination in education and experience would be an asset as would experience with sales tracking software. Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint are also frequently utilized sales tools.

Requirements

To perform this position, you must be a U.S. Citizen due to contractual requirements with the U.S. Navy.
