Duties & Responsibilities:

+ Underwrite conventional conforming, non-conforming, FHA, VA, and portfolio loans in a paperless environment, for a national mortgage bank

+ Specialize in FHA loan underwriting (DE)

+ Specialize in VA loan underwriting (SAR/LAPP)

+ Effectively communicate with bankers, analysts, closers, investors and auditors

+ Coordinate underwriting responsibilities with processing and closing departments

+ Staying up to date agency guidelines, products and recent regulatory changes

+ Daily use of DU/LP

+ Underwrite all loans to agency and investor guidelines

+ Complete "Service. Excellence. Experience." customer service training

Job Requirements:

+ 4 year college degree OR commensurate mortgage experience

+ 3+ years of recent Government Underwriting experience

+ Thorough understanding of agency guidelines, products, and regulatory changes

+ Must have experience working with multiple investors and guidelines

+ Encompass experience strongly preferred

+ Advanced proficiency with DU/LP

+ Comfortable with 3-5 full reviews daily plus resubs

+ Direct Endorsement (DE) strongly preferred

+ SAR/LAPP designations strongly preferred

+ High attention to detail and ability to multitask

+ Flexible with work schedules especially during peak volume periods & month end.

+ Excellent Interpersonal, Communication, and Time Management Skills

+ Effective Problem Solver

+ Favorable credit history and background

+ Razor sharp wit and a wicked awesome sense of humor (not necessarily a requirement...but we can dream)
