Principal Engineer - Modeling & SimulationLocation:Irvine, California, United StatesRequisition #:210003FQPost Date:Mar 02, 2021 Principal Engineer Modeling Simulation Careers That Change Lives In this exciting role as a Principal MS Engineer, you will have responsibility for developing computational FEA/CFD tools and implementing these tools towards design optimization of novel neurovascular implants. You will contribute to defining the direction for new products, processes or technologies based on business strategy. A Day In TheLife + Develop utilize FEA CFD tools for design and evaluation of neurovascular devices+ Implement general mechanical design and solid/fluid mechanics fundamentals to drive the development of products used in the treatment of neurovascular disease+ Work collaboratively with front-end RD, product development teams and as well as with cross-functional team members to bring new products to market+ Utilize computational modeling simulation to develop new test methods; integrate materials and processes; characterize device performance+ Prepare reports and presentations to communicate technical assessments and analysis results+ Generate technical reports for submission to regulatory agencies+ Offer insight, guidance mentorship to junior engineers.+ Aid in the generation of intellectual property Must Have: Minimum Requirements + Bachelors degree required+ Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience Nice to Have In order to successful in this role candidate needs to be fully competent /and or have expereince in: + 8+ years of experience with non-linear structural FEA modeling of vascular implants+ Experience with modeling of braided implants is strongly preferred.+ Computational modeling background using both implicit and explicit Abaqus/LS-Dyna FEA codes+ Programming/scripting experience using Python and automating modeling workflows+ Experience with software tools (for eg., MIMICS) to generate 3D anatomical reconstructions from CT images+ Proficient in material modeling of nitinol and cobalt-chromium alloys Preferred Qualifications: + CFD analysis experience is preferred+ Experience with CAD modeling in Solidworks is a plus+ Able to analyze results, distill key findings and translate into conclusions. Concisely present findings to varying audience including management and technical teams+ Experience with writing detailed technical reports+ Collaborate effectively with RD engineers for material characterization and device level bench-testing; and cross-functional groups including Clinical, Regulatory and Quality+ Is self-accountable and able to make key decisions independently About Medtronic Together, we can change healthcare worldwide.
