We operate development centers in Plymouth, Michigan; Southern California (Irvine, Carson & LA); Silicon Valley (San Jose and Palo Alto); Vancouver, British Columbia; and Surrey, England; as well as a manufacturing facility in Normal, Illinois.

We are a rapidly growing company, so our programs and processes need to be as streamlined and efficient as possible, as well as help ensure compliance. You will be part of the People Project Management Office and will lead significant programs to support the onboarding process and create an exceptional experience for our candidates.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Background Check Program for Rivian
  • Own the background check process to ensure compliance with policy, laws and other regulations.
  • Lead a team of coordinators to ensure background checks are initiated, tracked, and responded in a timely manner as well as initiate, communicate and distribute the pre and final adverse action letters
  • Respond to all candidate inquiries in a timely manner
  • Provide updates for new hire background checks to the Talent Acquisition and Onboarding teams
  • Partner with vendor(s) and internal stakeholders to create a positive candidate/employee experience
  • Provide solutions to improve the background check program and processes
  • Provide support to overall People Operations team initiatives when necessary

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration preferred
  • Minimum 2-3 years' experience in leading a background check program in a manufacturing environment (vehicle manufacturing would be ideal)
  • Lead a team without direct authority
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality with sensitive data and conversations
  • Deliver exceptional customer services skills:
  • Attention to detail and strong organization skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Willingness to jump right in and feel comfortable with a high volume workload
  • Must be able to learn and apply quickly, as well as to dispense/share knowledge in a team environment
  • Must be self-motivated, demonstrate initiative, and able to work independently.
  • High proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and ability to research, compile, and present information
