Job Description:
You will lead the architecture for the Cox Automotive Vehicle Description & Valuations team, reporting to the Sr Director of Architecture for Data Products. Youll collaborate with architects across Cox Automotive and with engineering, product, and agile leaders to establish and scale Cox Automotive Vehicle Catalog and Valuations capabilities with a common technological and architectural vision delivered in the AWS cloud. You will drive the definition of architectural styles and patterns necessary to deliver the functional and non-functional requirements, validate solutions, identify risks and dependencies, and evaluate alternatives through hands-on research, discovery, and prototyping. You will support solution development through providing, communicating, and evolving the greater technological and architectural view of the solution. You will frame solution alternatives in both technology and business terms, ensuring that product and business decisions are not made in isolation of their technical implications, and vice versa. You will drive solution architecture for key integrations across the Cox Automotive product suite.
The right individual will balance solution architecture and technical architecture with the ability to bring the two together to solve problems. You will work closely with other architects and product leaders across the diverse products at Cox Automotive to integrate with the shared Cox Automotive Vehicle Catalogs and Valuation.
You will be expected to work very closely with engineers and be comfortable building prototypes and proofs of concept that help accelerate engineering teams and drive toward a common architectural vision that accelerates delivery of value and improves quality. Your collaboration, mentorship, and technical guidance will enable those who deliver value by empowering them to increasingly make local decisions and foster a spirit of iteration, providing a faster flow of incremental value.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Define and evolve the architectural direction, long-term vision, and guiding principles for delivery of common Vehicle Catalog and Valuations services, collaborating with the Data Portfolio architecture team and architects across Cox Automotive
  • Collaborate with architects across Cox Automotive to drive adoption of the common Vehicle Catalog and Valuations leveraging solution and integration architecture practices
  • Work with data scientists to deliver machine learning models necessary for product capabilities
  • Participate in planning, definition, and high-level design of the solution and explore solution alternatives and develop necessary documentation
  • Provide assessments of architectural health leveraging the AWS Well-Architected Framework, mapping deficiencies into roadmaps, and driving prioritization of improvements to achieve architectural health.
  • Perform in-depth research of problem domains, approaches/solutions, and collaborate with counterparts to ensure solutions meet organizational needs; and effectively present findings to help drive informed decisions
  • Drive creation, adoption and reuse of enterprise technology assets, identifying opportunities to create new reusable technology assets and promote them for use across the enterprise
  • Track and analyze technical debt and advocate for appropriate debt management
  • Collaborate with Delivery Teams in refining solution designs and technical approaches into an achievable implementation, and provide guidance on requirements
  • Develop an architectural runway in support of upcoming requirements and work with counterparts to ensure that necessary work is prioritized and delivered
  • Foster overall quality of deliverables by providing effective technical guidance
Qualifications:
  • Experience architecting large scale integrations of foundational services across an enterprise.
  • Highly analytical with strong technical skills to rapidly deliver proof-of-concepts and perform experimentation.
  • Breadth of knowledge across architecture domains, with experience in integration, solution, application, data, and technical architecture practices.
  • Breadth of technical experience and knowledge, with depth in API delivery at scale and data engineering.
  • 10 years+ of working experience as a practicing architect
  • 5+ years developing software in Python and other programming languages (Java, Scala, Python, R, etc.)
  • 5+ years experience in full development life cycle and significant experience in delivering applications and architecture services in a production environment
  • 3+ years architecting for and delivering solutions in a public cloud environment; AWS is preferred.
  • 3+ years experience with at least 4 of the following technologies/solutions: AWS S3, Kafka, AWS Lambda functions, AWS ECS, AWS Aurora/Postgres, AWS Glue ETL, AWS EMR, AWS DynamoDB, Containers/Docker, Snowflake
  • 2+ years experience working within DevOps/DataOps cultures and frameworks, with a focus on process inefficiency identification, decomposition, automation, and continuous improvement
  • 3+ years experience with relational and non-relational database technologies (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB, PostgreSQL, Redis, ElasticSearch, graph datastores, etc.), especially for information processing and exchange, analytics, and real-time inference workloads
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3+ years experience in a Lean Agile development environment with weekly and/or daily releases
  • 2+ years leadership experience
  • Masters degree / PHD in computer science
