Purpose of Position: The Company is seeking a Vice President to lead Sales and Business Development. Reporting directly to the President, this executive will drive the organization's strategic growth objectives by developing and refining an understanding of Department of Defense (DOD) customer's most important needs and creating/leading winning capture strategies. This critical role, supporting our diverse portfolio of products, will include responsibility for all aspects of business development to include strategic capture, technology proposal operations, and market strategy. The selected individual will be held accountable for the team's identification, qualification and capture of business development and sales opportunities as well as the generation of qualified pipeline growth necessary to meet or exceed the business unit's forecast and plan. In addition, this individual will plan and recommend BD and marketing strategies to achieve maximum customer and market penetration and to drive tactical and strategic growth. Essential duties and/or Functions: * Grow the opportunity pipeline, to include existing and new markets/customers, through diligent and timely identification/qualification of new business opportunities by leveraging current technologies, customer intimacies, and inter-company collaboration* Oversees the identification, qualification and pursuit of strategic business opportunities* Develops internal cross-organizational relationships and drives new growth through collaboration with other market sectors* Build and maintain a best in class capture organization and oversee major capture activities for the Military market* Obtain marketing intelligence and competitive data pertaining to potential targeted pursuits, and develop marketing strategies* Lead and participate in bid decisions, phase reviews and the development of cost strategies* Tracks key measurements and ensures business areas have the necessary tools to monitor and track performance* Play a key role in the development and execution of the long term strategic plan for global Military market* Conduct customer visits and perform research to understand current and emerging customer needs and requirements* Establish, build, and maintain customer relationships and assess competitor capabilities aligned to specific customers across a diverse business portfolio* Partner with the VP of Innovations and Technology in developing customer requirements and ensuring suitable technologies are delivered to meet their needsRequired Minimum Qualifications: BS/BA level degree in Business, Engineering, or other appropriate degree; 10 or more years within a related industry, with either background in capture management ,engineering, program management, and/or similar disciplines, with exhibited progression; 5 or more years of proven experience in BD or sales roles. Knowledge of computer programs and corporate systems relevant to the assigned area of responsibility is normally required. Preferred/Desired Skills or Experiences:* Demonstrated ability to build customer and industry relationships. * Proficiency in written and oral communication/presentation skills.* A demonstrated capability to think strategically and execute tactically. The successful candidate must be an integrative thinker with a strong foundation in data driven problem solving.* A demonstrated depth and breadth in business acumen across the major functional disciplines including Program Management, Engineering, Operations, Finance, Contracts, Business Development, Marketing and Sales.* Preference for candidates with military experience and security clearance.Internal Relationships: Business Development & Sales, Futures, Commercial Sales, Engineering, Product Management, Legal, Contracts and Marketing teams. External Relationships: Working with Department of Defense customers.
