Under the direction of the Director of Computing, design,
develop and maintain the School of Social Ecology's Linux based web
servers (running CentOS and Drupal) and MySQL databases. Understand
HTML and code in PHP and MySQL to administer, create, test and
support the School's web sites. Envision, organize and plan all web
projects in conjunction with our Marketing team, support
applications and development projects, to include structured
programming techniques, security and terminology. Analyze, design,
code, test and debug others code and design.
Commensurate with Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field with 3-5
years of experience, or equivalent experience.
Expert knowledge of Linux administration.
Advanced knowledge of Web with extensive Drupal experience and
networking infrastructures (Servers, firewalls (IPCOP), databases
(MySQL), security, etc.)
Applied knowledge of server backup and restore methodologies.
Demonstrated knowledge of Ethernet and asynchronous hardware and
Knowledge of TCP/IP, and asynchronous communications
Demonstrated ability to read and comprehend technical
hardware/software documentation and ability to apply that knowledge
Proven ability to develop technical hardware/software
Expertise to effectively communicate on a technical level with
vendors, manufacturers, and other sources of technical support to
troubleshoot and perform system repairs.
Advanced knowledge of HTML, PHP, and CSS. Advanced knowledge of
Apache web server administration, configuration, and
Advanced knowledge of MySQL administration, configuration, and
Skills to establish a rapport and maintain professional and
cooperative working relationships with persons of various social,
cultural and educational backgrounds.
Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve problems quickly and
completely while minimizing disruption to users.
Proven ability to work individually and lead projects with
Knowledge administrating and configuring Mailman.
Demonstrated skill in graphic design. Knowledge of Microsoft
Some working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server.
Knowledge and ability to use commercial software including
Outlook, Gmail, and MS Office tools, etc.
