Carries out engineering assignments associated with the planning of
development programs, design of mechanical and electro-mechanical
functioning equipment and processes and technically supports
on-going production programs. Performs drawing checks for other
colleagues and engineers as needed. Project/Cognizant engineer for
intermediate level complexity projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitors production, installation, operation, maintenance, test and
repair of mechanically and electro-mechanical equipment and
processes. Works on relatively complex assignments which are
typically delegated in general rather than specific and explicit
instructions. Typical assignments require limited supervision with
some latitude for unmonitored action, performs assignments which
involve responsibility for a secondary project or a part of a major
project. The Mechanical Engineer will carry out engineering
assignments concerned with the design of mechanically functioning
equipment and processes. Responsible for monitoring production,
installation, operation, maintenance, test and repair of mechanical
and electro-mechanical equipment and processes. Qualified candidate
will have 5-7 years' experience designing and developing complex
electro-mechanical systems for the defense industry. Understanding
of Military specifications and environment desired, MIL-STD-100
drawing practices preferred. ASME Y14.5 standard a plus.
Operational experience with test equipment a plus.
Good understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals required.
Requires strong oral/written communication skills. Must be able to
prepare written technical procedures and reports. Looking for a
hands-on team player with the ability to work independently and
with interdepartmental teams. Must be eligible to obtain DoD
Bachelor's degree (B.S./BSc) from four-year college or university
or equivalent; and 5 to 7 years related experience and/or
B.S.M.E or equivalent. Masters in Mechanical engineering related
field or an MBA is considered a plus. Requires over four years of
experience with design and fabrication of mechanical and
electro-mechanical systems. Knowledge of ANSI Y14.5 standard is
essential. Experience and training in the Military/Aerospace
Industry is required. General machine shop experience is a plus.
Should have hands-on experience in hydraulics, mechanical feed
systems, linear controls, basic electronics and servo-mechanisms.
Professional and/or technical certifications from accredited
educational and vocational institutions desired.
