The Corporate Counsel is responsible for providing comprehensive legal advice for Lineage Logistics, LLC and all affiliated entities regarding labor, employment and litigation throughout the North America region, with the specific duties and responsibilities set forth below. Corporate Counsel will report to the Assistant General Counsel (AGC) as a member of the North American legal team and collaborate with the team to deliver excellent legal service in labor, employment and litigation.About the Company: Lineage Logistics was started by Bay Grove Capital when they acquired their first frozen food warehouse in December 2008 in the heart of the financial crisis. Vision: To be the world's most dynamic temperature-controlled logistics companyValues: Safe, Trust, Respect, Innovation, Bold & Servant LeadershipTo learn more about Lineage Logistics, please visit .Duties and Responsibilities: Assist the AGC with managing all day-to-day labor, employment and litigation matters for the North America region, including supervising a team of internal and external legal resources, to manage workflows and ensure deadlines are met. Assist in the oversight of the receipt, review of, and response to all legal documents served on the Company or any employees from all courts and governmental and administrative agencies, including all attorney communications of a legal nature or description. Assist the AGC with advising and consulting with cross-functional leaders to develop and implement corporate employment practices and procedures related to labor, employment, and litigation to ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations; review and draft employee policies and conduct trainings regarding the same. Work with internal team and outside counsel to respond and draft and file pleadings and position statements with respect to agency claims (EEOC, DFEH, other state agencies), immigration matters (INS), OSHA Complaints, individual and class action lawsuits and administrative hearings and represent the Company in such matters and proceedings. Assist the AGC with advising the Company on all Union and organized labor matters; aid with developing and managing the Company's response to all Union campaigns and organized labor matters in connection with the NLRB. Assist the AGC with advising, counseling, and consulting with senior leadership in the North America region about all labor, employment and litigation matters. Assist the AGC with managing all litigation by and against the Company, including overseeing outside litigation and trial counsel; contribute to litigation strategy and coordinate with outside counsel regarding all filings, pleadings and strategy; participate in discovery and litigation to extent possible to reduce legal costs; review and approve/disapprove outside counsel fees. Assist the AGC and claims specialists with respect to all claims made against the Company, including workers' compensation, warehouse legal liability claims, general liability (property damage and personal injury) claims, as well as related lawsuits, pleadings, and discovery; draft settlement/release documentation. QualificationsEducation: A Juris Doctor degree from a nationally recognized, accredited law school required.Licensure: A member in good standing with a bar of any state.Experience:

  • 3 or more years of experience in employment law.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Experience analyzing and interpreting legal issues and draft pleadings, motions, briefs and legal memoranda.
  • Experience conducting complex legal research using on-line research tools.
  • Experience navigating complex business organizations across functional groups.
  • Experience interacting and clearly stating legal strategies and goals with company leadership, outside counsel, adjusters, opposing counsel, and claimants.
  • Substantial experience with delivering advice and counsel to business leaders and human resources professionals.
  • Experience developing policies and procedures relating to employment, including employee handbooks and codes of conduct. Special Skills:Candidate must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to translate legal complexities into terms readily understood by management and line personnel. Must be able to demonstrate strong client management and relationship and project management skills as well as the ability to work successfully both independently and within a team.
