What we do:
The CNC Programmer/Operator II applies technical knowledge and expertise to support the Machine Shop. This role is hands-on, working with M&P Engineering staff toward building & implementing conventional and novel materials and process solutions that lead to the certification & production of new AAM vehicles. This position collaborates with M&P, Manufacturing, & Design Engineering verticals during the development process.
What you can do:


  • Read and follow material specifications, process specifications, work orders that support manufacturing & ensure quality
  • Read and interpret design drawings and CAD models
  • Generate tool path programming for 3 & 5-axis machining using CAD/CAM software
  • Perform set-up and fixturing of raw stock and execute CNC machining of parts from aluminum and composite materials
  • Responsible for maintaining calibration and maintenance schedules of all equipment in the Machine Shop
  • Responsible for Machine Shop consumable material inventory management and general housekeeping of the Machine Shop
  • Responsible for cutting tool selection and maintenance
  • Responsible for stringent documentation of all work including photo collection and process notes/observations
  • Development of Job Hazard Assessment (JHA) documentation for various shop operations
  • Contribute to root cause analysis and failure investigations of development parts and process equipment
  • Mentor junior technicians
  • May require up to 10% of domestic and international travel
  • Other duties as assigned

    What you can contribute:

    • High school diploma or equivalent GED required
    • Minimum ten (10) years of related experience (an equivalent combination of formal training or certificate courses and experience may be considered)
    • Fundamental understanding of GD&T
    • Technical understanding of FANUC machine language and familiarity with CMS milling equipment
    • Technical understanding of milling best practices for aluminum and composite materials
    • Understanding of a first principles' approach to problem solving
    • Strong mechanical assembly aptitude, ability to use various hand tools, power tools, and handheld measuring tools
    • Proficient in Atlassian products Confluence & JIRA
    • Technical familiarity with 3D CAD and CAM software
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Proactive delivery of communication and follow up
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Must have the ability to independently prioritize and accomplish work within time constraints
    • Proficient in MS Office Suite products Excel, Word, & PowerPoint

      Physical demands and work environment:

      • Must be able to perform physical work including bending, kneeling, lifting up to 50 pounds.
