Job Description:

The selected Sr. Scrum Masteraposs primary responsibilities will be the facilitating of learning and growth of one or more Agile teams in developing a lean-Agile mindset, improving practices and guiding them to more predictable delivery. The Scrum Master plays a role in facilitating Agile ceremonies and planning of releases, managing dependencies, removing impediments, providing guidance, and supporting Agile teams. This role also supports planning with the Agile Release Train leadership team. Additional roles responsibilities will include Backlog Management Practices Works with Product Owners and team members to learn and practice healthy backlog management and prioritization practices Facilitates the execution and improvement of backlog refinement Prepares for and facilitates release planning with teams Assists in dependency management and cross team coordination Agile Ceremony Facilitation Facilitates continuous improvement and the development of a learning culture on teams Facilitates ceremonies, collaboration, communication, and conflict management Teaches new team members Agile mindset and frameworks, practices, and process Influences the organization in the removal of organizational impediments and development of healthy Agile practices Mentors Product Owners and team members in agile practices and continuous improvement Agile Release Train Support Facilitates the preparation and execution of release planning for the Agile Release Train (ART). This includes Working with the ART team who prioritizes the features to be considered in the next quarter Facilitate the ART team's refinement of features to be considered in the next quarter to meet the Feature Definition of Ready. Ensures effective communication and coordination for and during quarterly planning. Manages changes to the ART's quarterly plan and the impacts of those changes. Facilitates the coordination of initiatives that cross multiple release trains. Facilitates resolving or reporting escalated issues involving risk, or dependency management that may be hindering the team's ability to deliver features. Delivery Team Support Removes impediments to the team's ability to perform Acts as a buffer between external distractions to minimize disruptions Assists in the coordination of operational issue resolution Facilitates team development, mediates conflicts protecting the team and encourages healthy team dynamics. Fosters team responsibility, self-accountability, transparency and self-organization Leverages coaching skills to help the team learn to solve its own problems Advice and Guidance Introduces and encourages team to explore healthy Agile development practices, focus on quality and technical excellence, predictable delivery, automation, and continuous delivery Teaches and encourages a balanced backlog that delivers valuable features for customers, reduces technical debt, provides business value, and enables product sustainability Helps the team to develop, capture, and analyze metrics to facilitate team improvements Promotes transparency through healthy communications and data integrity Coaches the Agile release train (ART) to improve in the implementation of Agile processes, practices, and mindset. Assists the ART to relentlessly improve through the facilitation of ART Retrospectives quarterly, or more often as needed, to improve backlog management, ART reviews, sprint reviews, or ART coordination and higher-level function. Qualifications Bachelor's degree or related field or equivalent combination of industry related professional experience and educationRequires 5 - 8+ years of working experience in a related industry as a Scrum Master Prior experience as a Project or Program Manager or Release Train Engineer Working experience in one or more of the following Agile methods or frameworks Scrum, Extreme Programming (XP), or Kanban Servant leader and communicator with strong interpersonal skills who can o Facilitate effective discussions of any size across all levels of the organization o Listen and support teams in problem-identification and decision making o Communicate in an open, honest and direct manner o Encourage an environment that values mutual respect, openness, and courage o Persuade by influence rather than authority o Understand and empathize with others o Think beyond day-to-day activities o Support teams' commitments and continuous growth o Empower teams to be owners of their products and processes Scrum Master certification or equivalent certified professional (Desired for lower level - required for higher) Working experience with Agile scaling frameworks, preferably SAFe Agile Certification (CSM, PSM, or PMI-ACP) Project Management Professional (PMP) SAFe Agilist (SA) or other SAFe certifications preferred About Cox Automotive Cox Automotive Inc. makes buying, selling and owning cars easier for everyone, while also enabling mobility services.
