Job Description:
**This is a Hybrid role where you will work 3 days/week in the
office and 2 days/week from your home office. - Are you a creative,
tech-minded Learning Designer? Are you energized by thinking about
how to bridge learning design with technological solutions,
storytelling, media, and more to create meaningful student
engagement? Are you looking for a place with the culture, resources
and collaborators to push the boundaries in reimagining digital
learning? If so, this is an exciting opportunity to work in the new
Innovation Lab with West Coast University. You will:
- Collaborate with subject matter experts, consultants, external
partners, faculty, and students to design and test high-impact
innovations.
- Create -digital learning experiences that redefine student
engagement through storytelling, technology, interactive media,
creative writing, film making, game-based learning, and more.
- Support -Innovation Lab ideas and projects using design
thinking and stage gate framework to reimagine the educational
experience through a wide variety of emerging educational
technologies.
- Collaborate -with subject matter experts, consultants, external
partners, faculty and students to design and test high impact
innovations built on sound cognitive science and learning
experience design methodologies.
- This position reports directly to the Director of Online
Innovation. - Requirements:
- Minimum three years of experience creating digital learning
experiences.
- Demonstrated experience using instructional design theories or
cognitive science in the design and development of engaging
content.
- Experience in developing and implementing innovative learning
experiences for adult learners from ideation through
implementation. - Education:
- Master's degree in instructional design, psychology,
educational technology and instruction, film making, multimedia
design, or related field from a regionally accredited institution
required. Equivalent field experience will be considered.
- Education specialist degree or doctorate degree in
instructional design, instructional technology, or related field
from a regionally accredited institution preferred. -
Knowledge/Experience:
- Minimum three years of experience creating digital learning
content.
- Demonstrated experience using instructional design theories or
cognitive science in the design and development of engaging
content.
- Experience in developing and implementing innovative learning
experiences for adult learners from ideation through
implementation.
- Working knowledge of emerging technologies including (but not
limited to) interactive multimedia, 360 video, AR/VR,, game-based
learning and their applicability to learning experience
design.
- Digital portfolio of previous projects (can include project
management examples, demo-reels, design logic, documentaries,
UI/UX).
- Design and development of online learning content in the
healthcare, medical, or related fields.
- Design and development of immersive digital experiences. -
- Familiarity with design thinking and Stage Gate framework.
- Producing, directing, or script writing videos, documentaries
or short films. - Qualifications/Skills:
- Ability to use current anagogical principles, learning
sciences, and technology towards ideation, exploration, and
assessment of new digital learning experiences.
- Ability to think critically and creatively to continuously
design new concepts and iterate rapidly through collaboration and
feedback from faculty, students, consultants, vendors, and other
team members.
- Lead the design and development of engaging, innovative, and
effective learning experiences from ideation to assessment,
prototyping, and pilot phases.
- Use evidence based research by creating student experiences
designed to improve student outcomes in the cognitive and the
affective domain using new innovative content design and cutting
edge technologies.
- Produce multiple possible approaches for testing and validating
ideas through the stages of the innovation framework.
- Work with developers to apply best-practices and UX design
skills to create proof-of-concepts, mockups, and prototypes.
- In collaboration with the research analyst, design, measure,
and analyze expected outcomes of learning experiences at each stage
of the innovation framework.
- Serves as a coordinator and/or project manager for external
consultants, technologists, developers, and SMEs, working to manage
the scope, timeline, design, development, and delivery of learning
