Job Description:

As the Director of Health Information Management for Aurora San Diego, you will be responsible for supervising and coordinating activities related to analyzing, compiling, abstracting, transcribing, coding, indexing, and filing patient records.Pay Range: $75K to $85K annuallyResponsibilities:

  • Process all physician billing requests for medical records.
  • Review legal requests (subpoenas or court orders) and copy records.
  • Review all releases for validity and mail back invalid ones.
  • Process weekly delinquent counts and distribute lists to physicians.
  • Audit charts for H&P and Psychological Evaluation compliance; track data.
  • Perform transcription corrections and liaise with transcription services.
  • Send out Tri-west record requests.
  • Calculate and send various audits including Fall, Read back, and others related to psychiatric evaluations and discharges.
  • Chair the "Forms Committee" monthly, take minutes, and update forms for the Quality Council.
  • Maintain the master forms binder and ensure the "Do Not Abbreviate" list is current per JCAHO standards.
  • Verify bills for AJS copy, Cor-o-van, and Medwrite; liaise with companies regarding issues.
  • Distribute quarterly rights and detention denial notices to the county.
  • Compile data for the Quarterly HIM report for the Quality Council.
  • Keep Policies and Procedures updated.
  • Conduct monthly in-services and new hire orientations.
  • Attend JCAHO, Quality Council, Ethics, and other departmental meetings.
  • Complete OSHPD reports twice a year and ALIRTS report annually.
  • Ensure coding updates are received biannually.
  • Serve as the primary coding supervisor, notifying relevant departments of changes or issues.
  • Supervise staff, conduct evaluations, and verify compliance documentation; monitor e-time accuracy.Qualifications:
    • High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.
    • Must hold RHIA or RHIT certification.
    • Experience in a psychiatric setting preferred.Benefits include:
