Workforce Relations provides strategic guidance and oversight across the enterprise in the areas of labor and employee relations, HR investigations, HR policy and compliance, and leaves administration. https://hr.uci.edu/ Under the general direction of the Leaves Administration Manager, the Disability Management Specialist provides disability management services to employees with disabilities, injuries, illnesses or medical conditions as mandated by ADA/FEHA, UC policies and collective bargaining agreements. Provides expert guidance, referrals and resources to employees with disabilities and their supervisors/managers related to the reasonable accommodation process. Obtains and clarifies medical documentation of disability related limitations/restrictions, facilitates the interactive dialogue between the employee and supervisor/manager, conducts research, develops and recommends individualized accommodation plans.

Minimum of 5 years work experience in Disability Management/Vocational Rehabilitation. Experience delivering effective workshops and training.Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.Advanced analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability to provide job development and employment counseling services to clients. Experience interpreting medical documentation of disability related limitations/restrictions, facilitating the interactive process and providing reasonable accommodations in a large, complex organization. Knowledge of mental health issues and sensitivity for mental health clients. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively and with confidence. Ability to build relationships, collaborate and problem solve across all levels of the organization. Ability to prepare clear, concise summaries and reports. Skill and sensitivity in dealing with others. Ability to handle difficult and complicated issues with professionalism and sound judgment. Strong working knowledge of Federal and California laws related to employees and applicants with disabilities, including ADA/FEHA/FMLA/CFRA/PDL/WC. Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality and safeguard information.Preferred:
Current Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) or Counselor Certification from the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC) or current Certified Disability Management Specialist (CDMS).Knowledge of UC policies and procedures and UC collective bargaining agreements.Conditions of Employment:
