Flexible Position Summary: The Division of Finance and
Administration (DFA) provides services and support to over 50,000
students, faculty, and staff with the mission of advancing UCI's
brilliant future and the vision of becoming world-class campus
partners. DFA serves the university as planning partners, problem
solvers, and solution providers-striving to make it as easy as
possible for people to get the services they need, when they need
them. The Budget Office serves as a planning resource for campus
leadership and all UCI units. The Budget Office provides analysis,
reporting, financial modeling, and advice on fiscal policies,
procedures, and resource deployment. Functions include base budget,
staffing, fund management, student fee oversight, campus budget
allocations, tracking of actuals to budget, and fiscal
sustainability. Having wide-ranging experience, uses professional
concepts and organizational objectives to resolve complex issues
with organization-wide impact in creative and effective ways. Works
on complex issues with little or no precedent where analysis of
situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable
factors. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and
evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Is considered a subject
matter expert. Internal and external contacts often pertain to

the Full Salary Range $100,600.00 - $190,800.00 (Annual Salary)
Required: Minimum ten years related higher education experience,
preferably in a public research university setting. Bachelor's
degree or equivalent experience required. Expert knowledge of
higher education finance policies, budgeting practices, and systems
Ability to identify, collect, analyze, and report on complex data.
Expert ability to effectively communicate complex information to
management both verbally and in writing in a clear and concise
manner. Expert ability using multiple spreadsheet and database
software tools to synthesize and integrate information for highly
complex, strategic financial analysis, fiscal management, and
financial reports. Expert interpersonal and consultative skills
requiring organizational savvy; expert service orientation and
critical thinking skills; attention to detail. Expert ability using
organizational skills to multi-task in a high volume environment
Ability to contribute to budget model planning strategies and adapt
model drivers to changing priorities. Ability to function as a
member of a team. Expert knowledge and understanding of internal
control practices and their impact on protecting University
resources. Experience implementing higher education budget model
practices and systems, preferably in a public research university
setting. Expert knowledge about budget model alternatives to
contribute to development and implementation of best practices that
align with UCI needs. Skill to work as a team to develop a budget
model template that is flexible and inclusive of the appropriate
data elements needed to align resource distribution with campus
strategic goals. Preferred: Master's degree in business, public
administration, higher education, accounting, or other related
