Summary
The Assistant Manager, Logistics Procurement position will be responsible for executing the day-to-day operations of the Logistics Procurement Team for Glovis U.S., or GUS.
Responsibilities


  • Supplier Management

    • Build and nurture relationships with existing and potential suppliers, as well as internal business stakeholders
    • Coordinate and direct recurring Supplier Business Reviews (SBRs). Ensure pipeline of reviews several weeks forward, identify key supplier and internal personnel, clarify topics/agenda
    • Ensure accountability and oversee outstanding action plans before/after SBRs
    • Review existing supplier contracts, ensure on-going and future feasibility with internal stakeholders
    • Oversee categories of procurement activities to maintain continuity of supply for current and future business needs; be aware of industry/market trends and changes that can optimize GLOVIS external supply chain


    • RFx/Proposal Management

      • Oversee RFx process for new/recurring demand: requirements definition, bidder identification, critical timelines
      • Work with internal stakeholders to:

        • Analyze proposals and opportunities
        • Select optimum suppliers, favorable cost/pricing terms and ensure compliance with Legal,
          Regulatory, and Customer requirements
        • Lead and/or support the development and execution of negotiation plans
        • Coordinate with Business Development, Finance, Legal, internal consumers, GLOVIS leadership to execute Contract approvals




        • Proposal Development and Support

          • Be the front of the procurement org (working with Sales, VL, other internal groups) to optimize external solutions into GLOVIS' offerings to its customers
          • Drive increased Procurement planning, control and accountability with the business groups
          • Act as proactive sentry to upcoming sub-tier activities, and oversee RFx Process, including requirement definition, bidder identification and critical timelines
          • Support new processes and procedures to improve business continuity
          • Participate in Procurement deployment initiatives, as needed
          • Engage in standardization efforts for Procurement


          • Other Duties as Assigned

            • Including but not limited to:

              • Provide team leadership, as needed, representing Procurement and guiding others on the team
              • Improvement Opportunities: identify, catalog and as applicable execute continuous improvement initiatives as they relate to the external supply of goods & services
              • Oversee categories of procurement activities to ensure healthy continuity of supply for current and future business needs; to be aware of industry/market trends and changes that can optimize GLOVIS

                  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
                  • Strong negotiation, procurement and conflict resolution skills
                  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and drive actions with cross-functional groups
                  • Proficient PC skills - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, database management systems, SAP preferred
                  • Working knowledge of industry and market conditions in the Vehicle Logistics and carrier operations businesses preferred
                  • Working knowledge of contract management practices, in tracking and managing data, contracts and timelines
                  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and to adjust to meet business needs
                  • Individual must be a self-starter with ability to work with limited direction

                    Education & Experience

                    • Bachelors Degree Required
                    • Supervisory Experience Preferred
                    • 5 - 8 years OR equivalent combination of education and experience

                      Physical Requirements

                      • Ability to sit in front of a desk and/or in front of the computer for long periods
                      • Repetitive use of hand/grasping product, writing, and typing
                      • Stand/walk
                      • Carry/lift up to 15 pounds
