Advanced Technology division has a unique opportunity for an
Director, Engineering, Innovation to join our growing team, to be
part of the team driving a new and evolving innovation portfolio
for the future of Edwards Lifesciences. Be part of the team to
build and implement the strategy for needs driven innovation within
the AT incubator driving a multi-disciplinary project team to
identify opportunities. This highly collaborative role will partner
with multiple teams that compete on numerous projects based on
value proposition and feasibility of new products.This strategic
role will provide technical guidance and drive new and evolving
innovation portfolio for the future of the organization.Key
Responsibilities:
- Engineering/technical lead for designing and implementing rapid
prototypes and iterations, including benchtop and preclinical
testing
- Serve as expert on relevant cardiovascular pathophysiology and
anatomy, incorporating this context to guide concept development
and de-risking strategies
- Wear the "scientist hat" - lead experiment strategy, design and
data analysis, leveraging appropriate research modalities (bench,
CFD, animal, etc.) to effectively de-risk early-stage concepts
- Actively contribute to generation of new product concepts,
prioritization/screening of concepts, and de-risking through
data-driven methods
- Provide technical expertise on a range of initiatives including
research and insights, channel strategy, valuation and business
case development.
- Support identifying project risks, developing complex
mitigation strategies, alternative solutions, resolving issues,
etc. in collaboration with cross functional groups. Partner with
internal technology and business leaders to identify, develop and
execute new product opportunities.
- Identify and evaluate more complex process improvements and/or
course correction/alignment opportunities
- Be an influencer for futuristic and disruptive thought patterns
and technologies that can become breakthrough solutions.Education &
Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science or Business
Administration with 12+ years relevant experience is required

- Master's Degree with 10+ years relevant experience is required

- Ph.D. with 8+ years relevant experience is requiredBasic
Qualifications:
- Strong Mechanical aptitude with R&D experience is
required
- Strong knowledge of cardiovascular or neurovascular
physiology/pathophysiology is required
- Medical Device experience from medical device or diagnostics
industry is required
- Hands on early product design and prototyping experience is
requiredPreferred Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong entrepreneurial background
- Discovery and early product development experience
- Experience with implantable medical devices
- Understanding of developing user experience research
- Experience in designing and conducting preclinical studies
- Practical knowledge of clinical and biostatistics
- Working knowledge of regulatory, compliance, and related

employees and their families.For California, the base pay range for
this position is $153,000 to $218,000 (highly experienced).The pay
for the successful candidate will depend on various factors (e.g.,
qualifications, education, prior experience).
