Through strategic, data-driven intelligence, proven research methodologies, and best-in-class service to our Development community, the Prospect Development team collaborates with its development partners in their goal to provide the best philanthropic life cycle experience for each individual donor as well as robust pipeline development. From portfolio enhancement and broad-based analysis to identify macroscopic prospecting and institution centric trends, to personalized research providing critical contextual intelligence for development officers, the Prospect Development team seeks to strengthen the prospect pipeline and have a positive impact on fundraising goals for our partners. Applies skills and experience as a seasoned professional to produce Relationship Management projects of medium size and complexity. Provides fundraisers and others with strategic information and tools to successfully build relationships with donors. Under the direction of the Sr. Director, Prospect Development the Assistant Director, Relationship Management will provide accurate, timely, and strategic information to fundraising staff on their portfolio of prospective donors to University Advancement with emphasis on Major Gift Prospects for Development. The Assistant Director will provide extensive analysis and data in reports, including an evaluation of results and recommendations for cultivation strategies and will liaise and strategize with an assigned portfolio of Development Officers to assess information needs and effectiveness of metrics, performance and prospecting needs. The incumbent is responsible for furthering campus wide fundraising efforts by providing and coordinating input on prospect assignment, cultivation and solicitation strategies to fundraisers. The incumbent serves as the front facing representative of Prospect Development, by building strong partnerships with the development community, liaise between prospect research, reporting and the data team, as well as other University Advancement units. The incumbent will also be expected to participate in professional development activities to stay abreast of current trends and practices in the field of relationship management and fundraising in general. Proven ability to perform duties with excellent customer service and teamwork is required. Compensation Range: $71,300 - $76,000 Department Website: https://advancement.uci.edu/
Required:

  • 3-5 years of progressively more in-depth experience in relationship management, development, fundraising, market research and /or relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Strong skills to evaluate issues and identify solutions within defined procedures and policies. Proven ability to address problems and suggest solutions through critical thinking processes. Knowledge of fundraising CRM systems, preferably in a University fundraising environment.
  • Proven ability to manage a project through to completion while performing a wide variety of tasks, adapting to changing priorities, deadlines and directions. Strong technical skills to utilize and manipulate data for presentation and portfolio development. Demonstrated skill in working collaboratively with reporting in a fund-raising environment, preferably at a University.
  • Thorough knowledge of confidentiality, regulatory and university policies governing prospect development activities. Thorough knowledge of prospect research techniques, tools and data analysis.
  • Comfortable with technology, learning new tools and adapting to innovative solutions to Prospect Development processes. Experience in use of software applications; Microsoft Suite, Teams, Word and Excel, and demonstrated experience using major online in-house databases in a fundraising environment, preferably at a University or Health System. Demonstrated knowledge of CoreLogic, Dun & Bradstreet/Business Databases, Lexis Nexis Development Professional and other electronic resources.
  • Proven attention to detail in written work and database entry. Interpersonal skills to build deep professional relationships with peers, team members and management. Strong verbal and written communication skills to explain technical concepts and articulate reasoning behind analyses and recommendations. Active listening skills to understand varying opinions and receive feedback. Preferred: Understanding of and competency with the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement (APRA) Body of Knowledge Skill Sets in Prospect Research. Conditions of Employment:
