Based in Irvine, California, SMS Datacenter ( is a leading provider of Managed Services, Colocation, Private Managed Cloud, and Service Desk.

*IT Operations Manager*

As the IT Operations Manager, it's your job to simplify the workday. A problem-solving attitude with an ability to motivate your coworkers to achieve specific goals, along with a solid technical background and process management experience, are essential to perform well in this position. You will be responsible for delivering strategic projects, providing process solutions, and working with IT support and operations teams to manage day-to-day activities in a growing MSP company.

You must be able to, with minimal supervision and a high level of decision-making:

* Support day-to-day needs of Service Desk, Engineering, Billing, and Sales, while facilitating their long-term growth
* Become the process owner for incident management, able to monitor, record, and analyze recurring incidents to eliminate or minimize their impact on the business
* Support implementation and change management of new policies and procedures
* Flag points of friction in recurring activities, looking for opportunities to improve effectiveness and efficiency
* Lead teams to plan, implement, and manage IT solutions

*Responsibilities: *

Managing Employees

* Effectively supervise, train, and motivate employees
* Schedule employees to ensure 24/7 operation and on-call rotation
* Review ongoing work and gather feedback

Hiring and Retention

* Have consistent on-on-ones with employees and interview candidates
* Define roles and responsibilities

Project and Process Management

* Improve and deliver company-wide operational processes and procedures, ensuring that the company follows IT best practices and standards
* Work with other employees, leads, managers, and executives to move concepts, projects, and work assignments toward successful completion in a timely manner

Customer Service

* Facilitate communication between internal and customer-facing departments to successfully achieve company objectives in a timely manner, while focusing on the highest customer service levels.
* Ensure on-time completion of helpdesk tickets and cross-team projects

Vendor Management

* Ensure products/services are provisioned, managed, and properly maintained/documented
* Find optimal, best-value products from current and future vendors, and ensure availability and delivery of required resources

*The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes: *

* A good combination of functional, project, process, time, customer, and/or vendor management skills
* Strong research, analytics, and problem-solving capabilities
* Ability to handle changing priorities, deal with ambiguity, and use good judgment in stressful situations
* Outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills
* Excellent verbal and written communications skills
* Quick learner with the willingness to work alongside team members to get the job done

*Education and experience: *

* Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field OR 6 years of relevant professional industry or military experience
* Previous IT Infrastructure, IT Management, or IT Business Operations experience
* Proven experience in IT infrastructure planning, development, and operations
* Strong understanding of project management principles and practices
* Strong experience with Helpdesk and Customer Relations Support systems
* IT security best practices (hardware, software, network, data, database, security and communication lines)

*Highly Desirable: *

* PMP or other project management certification or experience
* Strong understanding of Lean or other process improvement methodology
* ITIL certification
* Familiarity with switching and routing
* NOC experience
* Multitenant support
* Datacenter experience

*Nice to Have*:

* Strong technical knowledge of network and server operating systems
* Data Security and Cyber Security basics
* Experience with support of Windows Operating Systems, SQL Server and Active Directory
* Microsoft 365 Platform, including Azure, Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive and Office
* VMWare, Azure and AWS Server Virtualization
* Enterprise Backup, Replication and Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery mitigation and response
* PowerShell scripting
* VCP/VCTA or other IT certifications
