Terran Orbital Corporation is seeking an experienced Director of New Business Capture, reporting to the Vice President of Growth Operations, within Terran Orbitals Sales and Business Development Division. The primary responsibility of the Director of New Business Capture is to build and lead a team of Capture Managers that develops comprehensive strategies to capture new business across USG, Commercial and International space sectors markets. The Director of New Business Capture may personally lead the most strategically important captures as determined by Terran Orbitals executive leadership.

This position will be in either Melbourne, FL or Irvine, CA. Must be able to travel 25%.


  • Lead the development of capture strategy, competitive assessments, teaming strategies and agreements, price-to-win strategy, and the development of a compelling offer to do business.
  • Participate in customer- and partner-facing business development and product management activities, to provide expertise and to translate customer requirements into favorable solicitations
  • Understand every aspect of a business opportunity including the scope of the project, what resources will be needed, the impact on schedules, competitive pricing and budget concerns.
  • Conduct research and use information compiled by the staff to determine the best price and the best solution for the bid.
  • Influence requirements to drive favorable Requests for Proposals (RFP) aligned with Terran Orbitals Strategic Growth Plan
  • Provide key inputs for BAP gate reviews and for Bid Decision Reviews (BDRs)
  • Assist in the development of Contracts, Agreements, NDAs, MSAs, Teaming Agreements
  • Develop customer relationships and gather and competitive intelligence
  • Collaborate with business development, program management and engineering team
  • Work with proposal managers to ensure that a top-notch proposal is submitted
  • Work with functional organizations to allocate resources to execute the capture plan.


    • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Physical Sciences
    • 8+ years of relevant experience in business development, proposal management, capture management, engineering, or program management
    • 4 years of management experience
    • Strong understanding of satellites, space sensors and ground systems used for space assets
    • Significant experience developing and executing capture strategies to win greater than $50M new business with the Intelligence Communities, DOD and Civil agencies.
    • Fluent in partnering, teaming agreements, and color teams
    • Experience as book boss, proposal manager, and/or capture manager

    • Master's Degree in Engineering, Physical Sciences or Business Administration
    • PMP certification and/or DoD acquisition experience
    • Experience working in a distributed, matrixed environment, able to influence senior leaders and engage employees that are not in a direct reporting structure
    • Practical experience with the various contracting tools and associated regulations employed by the USG to acquire non-traditional solutions which feature emerging commercial technologies.
    • Have a thorough understanding of the USG contract life cycle, contract types and FAR/DFARS
    • Program Management experience including managing a budget and schedule
    • Must be a good delegator and multi-tasker experienced managing multi-disciplined teams
    • Experience with cost and budget constrained space programs
