Terran Orbital Corporation is seeking a(n) experienced Director of Safety and Reliability to join our growing team. As the Director of Safety and Mission Success you will support the Safety & Mission Assurance team, which is an independent group of leaders, engineers, technicians, safety and quality experts and process improvement professionals that execute the process oversight, defect and issue resolution, and proactive measures to drive the degree of rigor necessary and the use of defenses critical to mission success. You will be responsible for reliability analyses of our internal modules, parts analyses, and end to end evaluation of spacecraft reliability. The position reports directly to the Safety and Mission Assurance Vice President. Strong team collaboration, effective communication and exemplar leadership characteristics are essential.


  • Partner with the Engineering Organization, Supply Chain, Quality, and organizational Directors to lead all aspects of Safety and Mission Assurance across all our missions focusing on efforts towards mission success.
  • Interface with customer Mission Assurance counterparts and governing bodies to assure effective operations of our Quality Management Systems.
  • Support Program reviews, Space Sector initiatives and help develop and implement training, and ensure process documentation is current and accessible.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities will be assigned as needed and as it relates to the needs of the Operations organization.
    • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline with ten (10) years of combined experience in program and functional leadership, as an IPT Lead in relevant areas
    • Proven experience and extensive knowledge of four or more of the following: Program Mission Assurance, Supply Chain Quality, Product Quality, Environmental Health & Safety, Independent Review, Event Response, Process Improvement, and Reliability analyses
    • Five (5) years of experience leading people, projects, and/or programs across diverse technical and non-technical teams.
    • Experience with effective change management working across functions and programs.
    • Proven ability to lead a high performing team with evidence of being able to create trusted relationships, and an inclusive work environment that attracts, retain, and inspire diverse and engaged teams.
      Preferred Qualifications
      • Program leadership experience across multiple business areas and customers on medium to large programs as a Prime Contractor
      • Demonstrated ability to make complex critical decisions in a timely manner
      • Experience with related areas technical areas such as Systems Safety, Reliability, Configuration Management, PM&P
      • Experience leading day-to-day operations on complex programs or large functional organizations, with proven collaboration and coordination skills across internal and external stakeholder organizations
      • Experience with risk, issue, and opportunity management
      • Understanding of how people, process, tools, systems and leadership conops operate to achieve goals
      • Proven ability to deliver effective communication verbally, written, and through well-crafted presentations across all levels of an organization
