Job Description:

The Director of Manufacturing, R will provide leadership and management to the Pilot R and Model Shop Departments while driving technical innovation and operations excellence within the Advanced Technology business unit.Key Responsibilities:Plan and direct complex project activities with large scale or significant business impact with the accountability for successful completion of all project deliverables to the business and develop project plans and schedule, scope, and quality objectives. Lead in identifying risk, developing mitigation strategies, alternative solutions, resolving issues, etc. in collaboration with cross functional groups. Drive a culture that is focused on quality, operational excellence, and business results.Manage supervisors, managers, and/or experienced professionals comprising of Pilot R and Model Shop with responsibilities including early-stage prototyping, pre-clinical builds, machining of complex tooling and fixtures. Oversee the work of one or more areas, functionalities, and/or locations and have budgetary responsibilities for the department. Develop a robust talent development plan in alignment with functional growth strategies of the department. Create an environment that fosters employee motivation and engagement.Lead cross-functional and/or departmental groups to develop and provide design recommendations that integrate into complex component(s) or product(s).Lead efforts to optimize business processes and systems by assessing business needs and developing, proposing, and implementing technology solution options. Collaborate with cross-functional team members on strategic program activities (e.g. product engineering, process engineering, advanced engineering, core competencies). Collaborate with COE teams in driving standardized programs leveraging best in class practices.Develop, implement, and manage principles for Operations Excellence, Capacity Planning, and department Metrics/KPIs.Other incidental dutiesRequired Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Engineering10+ years of professional experience including 3+ years of experience with a demonstrated track record in management of technical and/or engineering disciplinesPreferred Qualifications:Knowledge of design/process controls for Class II & III medical devices, including familiarity with NiTi devices and processesTechnical understanding of production environment, engineering, process improvement, process optimization, design for manufacturability, process excellence methodologies including Six Sigma, LEAN experience, GMP, and EH guidelinesUnderstanding of Production/Pilot and machining environment while identifying applications of functional knowledge and existing methodologies to complex problemsExperience working in a regulated industryExcellent problem-solving, organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills including high discretion/judgment in decision makingExcellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal relationship skills including negotiating and relationship management skills with ability to drive achievement of objectivesAdditional Skills:Ability to build sustainable relationships of trust through open and collaborative communicationsDemonstrated ability to manage one or more teams and provide coaching and feedback, including responsibility for all employee actions including hiring/performance management authority and partnering with HR on all aspects of employee relationsAbility to develop and integrate metrics into the projects and operations that clearly demonstrate the value of department to the businessDevelop relationships and leverage them to influence changeImplement strategic policies when selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining resultsAbility to interact professionally with all organizational levels and proactively escalate issues to appropriate levels of management in the organizationAbility to work and excel within a fast paced, dynamic, and constantly changing work environmentAbility to understand business partner needs and manage satisfaction relative to deliverablesAdhere to all company rules and requirements (e.g., pandemic protocols, Environmental Health & Safety rules) and take adequate control measures in preventing injuries to themselves and others as well as to the protection of environment and prevention of pollution under their span of influence/controlEdwards is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer including protected Veterans and individuals with disabilities.Edwards is committed to complying with the requirements and guidance from our government authorities and to protecting our vulnerable patients and the healthcare providers who are treating them around the world.
