description below.The Director of Public Relations is primarily
responsible for creating new and innovative ways to reach media and
build PR awareness around the AAG brand. The director will be
responsible for all of AAG's media relations activities, which
includes, but are not limited to, responding to trade media
inquiries (i.e., Reverse Mortgage Daily, HousingWire, Reverse
Mortgage Magazine, etc.), pitching AAG news and stories to trade
and mainstream media, coordinating executive and
subject-matter-expert interviews, and developing buzzworthy ideas
to build stronger awareness of both the AAG brand and the home
equity vertical.Responsibilities:* Develop overall public relations
strategy, contribute to developing positioning and message content,
and create and implement strategically driven communications
programs targeted primarily to media.* Lead and mentor a team of
media relations professionals.* Write press releases and other
collateral materials developed to build stronger awareness around
the American Advisors Group business and brand. Coordinate news
releases with Marketing team to integrate messaging and overall PR
approach. Provide proofing, fact-checking and editing on variety of
public relations-related collateral pieces (AP style preferred).
Coordinate distribution. Collaborate with Corporate Communications
team members on internal distribution of news.* Coordinate
interaction with media, when appropriate, between the media and
senior executives. Lead media-related distribution services to
include queue and distribution of press releases, media advisories,
pitches and statements, as well as maintenance/strategic assembly
of all up-to-date press contacts.* Inform and collaborate with
Marketing team members on a variety of communications initiatives
including, but not limited to making certain that web content is
accurate and current, corporate overview is updated, and internal
stories reflect current news topics.* Assemble persuasive,
"pitchable" content and story angles to proactively pitch to
reporters/editors/producers in appropriate press verticals.* Devise
news angles to coordinate response to incoming press queries as
well as editorial calendar opportunities.* Develop Q&As and
message points and prepare senior management and
subject-matter-experts for interview opportunities.* Coordinate
special events and press conferences.Qualifications:* Experience
working with or for a financial services company; strong business
perspective when making decisions* Proven track record in media
relations* Knowledge of mortgage business preferred* Demonstrated
success in a fast-paced environmentEDUCATION / WORK EXPERIENCE*
Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications or related field
from an accredited college or university* Minimum of 10 years of
broad-reaching, progressively responsible media relations/marketing
experience, preferably with financial services companies like
American Advisors Group OR an equivalent combination of education
and/or experience.* Minimum 2 years of experience managing
others
