HDR is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Civil Engineer
for immediate employment in the HDR Irvine office. The
appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate a
knowledge of or a keen interest in freight railroad/transportation
industry design. Candidates are required to have a bachelor's
degree from an accredited college or university. Experience in the
freight rail/transportation industry and experience with Public
Improvement Projects is a strong plus. The Civil Engineer's primary
role will be to grow into the task lead role for the project design
team focused primarily on vertical/horizontal alignments, special
track work, grading, culvert modifications, bridges, grade
crossings, and grade separations.
Primary Responsibilities
In the role of Civil Engineer, we'll count on you to:
--- Design and plan production for general civil on a wide variety
of projects, including site layouts, horizontal and vertical
control, grading and drainage, paving, site utilities, and
associated civil engineering activitie
--- Design engineering and inroads modeling and construction cost
estimating
--- Works closely with other design task lead
--- Serve as a cross-disciplinary resource to best serve the needs
of the HDR
--- Support the transit and rail business line on other project
--- Account for the success, including financial, of projects as
well as accountable for the delivery of project documentation to
the high standards of HDR and the client within specified
timeframe
--- Assist with the preparation of design tenders and proposals and
participate in workgroup technical activitie
--- Interact with a multi-disciplinary team comprised of civil,
track, structures, geotechnical, signals, mechanical, electrical,
environmental, and other engineers and scientists.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
--- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
--- 5+ years' experience in engineering and managing complex
multidisciplinary project
--- PE (or ability to obtain licensure within 3 years)
--- Skilled in technical writing, communicating, and presenting to
clients and the public
--- Excellent written and verbal communication skill
--- Computer literate with MS Office (Word, Excel, Project)
--- Software: AutoCAD and Microstation Inroad
--- Highly motivated to successfully interact with clients, the
public, and team member
--- Must be able to pass a background check
--- Must be legally able to work in the United States of
America
--- Must have a valid Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications
--- 10+ years' experience in engineering and managing design teams
of varying complex multi-disciplinary project
--- Experience with topographic field surveying (GPS and/or Total
Station)
--- California SWPPP QSP Certificate (QSD a plus)
--- Previously demonstrated ability to lead tasks on civil design
project
--- Previously demonstrated design project experience with freight
railroads and/or commuter railroad

$75,152- $112,240 annually depending upon skills, experience,
education and geographical location. Stated benefits are for
full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles eligible
for limited benefits.
