Charter a vision for scaling our team by 75+ additional individuals
and take a hands-on approach to bolstering a strong tech
Champion code quality, reusability, scalability and security while
implementing the tooling and systems to ensure that these things
are accounted for.
Drive strategic decisions relating to software architecture,
infrastructure, testing and deployments.
Encourage the automation of anything being done repeatedly.
Especially through infrastructure as code.
Mentor engineers and architects utilizing your experience building
large scale public facing software.
Take nascent ideas or concepts and turn them into high fidelity
technical game plans.
Collaborate with your peers in Product, Design, Data Science and
Marketing to deliver on features and integrations.
Have a proven system for determining whether to buy vs build system
or software components.
Manage relationships with existing and prospective vendors such as
AWS, Stripe, Okta, Twilio, Github and more.
Establish 24/7 monitoring of system up-time, performance thresholds
Build the Data Labs engineering brand through blog posts,
conferences, open source projects and meet-ups.
Recruit, interview, hire and coach a highly cohesive team exuding
passion and ownership for their work.

Required Experience & Skills
You've led the development of production grade applications using
You've managed an engineering team of 50+.
You feel completely at home with cloud native architectures in
You've built APIs with GraphQL.
Proficient with SQL and NoSQL flavors like PostgreSQL, MySQL and
You understand when to use Serverless/Lambda but you also know
where servers and Kubernetes have their place.
Strong familiarity with data structures, algorithms and common OOP
Strong understanding of modern frameworks like React and React
Skilled at setting up build pipelines, dark shipping and blue-green
You've managed QA Engineers and have set up successful test suites
to cover unit, integration, e2e, load and security tests.

10+ years of senior engineering and management experience

Skilled at driving continuity across Engineering, Product,
Marketing and business teams.
BS or MS in Computer Science or related field; or comparable
