Work Schedule: 7:30am 6:00pm, M-F (Hours Varies)
Under the supervision of the director, incumbent is responsible for
the day-to-day operation of the classroom. The teacher shares
responsibility for establishing an effective environment for the
children. The teacher is knowledgeable of the Center's philosophy,
policies, goals, and objectives. Duties include: planning and
supervising the classroom activities and providing an environment
for 3 months to 12 year old children that promotes safe, healthy
and free exploration. The teacher is responsible for providing an
environment where the children feel safe and comfortable.
Applicant must have completed a minimum of 3 units in Infant
Toddler Development. A minimum of 3 years experience working with
children in a center setting. Candidate must possess a valid Child
Development Teacher permit at the teacher level or higher or show
the ability to qualify for a permit. A BA degree in Early Child
Education or combination of education or experience working with
preschool children. Active First Aid & CPR cards and a clear TB
Ability to work effectively as a member of child development team,
with children, parents, staff members, and community
representatives in providing a quality educational program.
Thorough understanding of child development and the philosophy and
methodology of early childhood education, as well as changes taking
place in the field. Ability to work with and be sensitive to a
culturally diverse community. Ability to relate to children as
individuals and in small and large groups. Ability to plan,
organizes, and directs a challenging developmental and
instructional program for preschool age children. Familiarity with
federal and state health safety regulations applicable to a child
care facility. Knowledgeable of NAEYC Accreditation Criteria.
Effective communication skills, both with children and adults.
Ability to use sound judgment.
