This is a work from home position but would require someone to do in person interviews occasionally in Tallahassee, FL.Summary of Overall Job: The Staff Writer is responsible for planning and writing content for Industry Insider, and, in conjunction with the Executive Editor, for producing and disseminating the daily email newsletter.Essential Duties: In conjunction with the Executive Editor, find and develop story ideas using internal and external resources Produce content for Industry Insider that is accurate, relevant, timely and interesting Update daily story budget for Industry Insider Build a network of sources within state and local government, as well as with external stakeholders relevant to the Industry Insider audience Conduct outward-facing activities, such as in-person meetings and other appearances, to maintain the visibility of Industry Insider Moderate in-person and online panels and discussions as needed Travel to events both to provide news coverage and to represent the company, as assigned and as schedule permits Assist colleagues with group projects and work coverage as needed Responsible for coordinating and attending required meetings that may include, but are not limited to: Government Technologys weekly writers/editors meeting Daily and/or weekly coordination meetings for Industry Insider Meeting/communicating with copy editors to manage workflow Editorial calendar planning meetingsSkills/Qualifications: Superior writing/editing skills Problem-solving and strong research skills Ability to analyze data and facts Communication experience with the corporate world Networking/personable interaction with sources Computer knowledge Must be in a work environment with reliable Internet accessThis Job Description is subject to change.
