Job Description:
This position is responsible for the oversight of all daily
accounting functions reporting directly to the business owner and
CFO. Cash flow management, budgeting, cost accounting, maintaining
internal controls, human resources and operational matters are
examples but not all inclusive of areas under the Controller's
oversight.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial
statements
- Monitoring cash flow with preparation of forecasts / analysis
as needed.
- Preparation of management dashboard reports
- Maintain an adequate system of accounting records
- Review, update and oversee internal controls
- Ensure that internal financial statements comply with generally
accepted accounting principles
- Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting
requirements and all tax filings
- Oversee and supervise staff responsible for Accounting,
Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Inventory Management,
Manufacturing, Fuel Management and Wholesale operations
- Maintain confidentiality and protect operations by keeping
financial information secure
- Primary interface for external professional relationships (ie
CPA's, bankers, legal, insurance)
- Plan and execute the implementation of new systems and
operations
Other Duties:
- Acts as a mentor and provides guidance to staff or train staff
as needed
- Submit periodic reports to management as requested
- Responsible for various other administrative and supervisory
duties as required
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of:
- U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Organizational development, human resources, and program
operations.
- Accounting software, general office software (i.e. Microsoft
Office Suite)
- - Ability to:
- Multitask with little supervision
- Create and assess financial statements and operations.
- Supervise staff, including regular progress reviews and plans
for improvement.
- Communicate effectively in both written and verbal form.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education:
- Bachelor's degree at an accredited college or university or
equivalent work experience.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
Experience:
- Five or more years of financial and management experience,
preferably with the day-to-day financial operations responsibility
within an organization.
- Combination of education and experience determined to be
acceptable.
