Controller - SBA Loan Experience Needed

Alliance Resource Group has partnered with a growing lending business in need of a hands-on Controller. This position will require experience in management and also experience working with small business loans. Additionally, we are ideally looking for someone to either work in the Pasadena or Irvine office. The great part about this role is that this position will become the CFO in a couple of years. RESPONSIBILITIES Manages the preparation and review of financial reporting, reconciliation and analysis by preparing and analyzing the following, profit and loss, balance sheet, portfolio, cash flow, and key performance statistics Provides timely financial statement analysis and interprets data Manage financial audits Manages the preparation of audit requests and tax work papers and serves as liaison with Federal, State and other audit agencies, appropriate. Evaluates and presents financial performance on a monthly basis against prior results, budget and forecast Manages the timely preparation and submittal of tax reporting by overseeing and approving the submittal of multi-jurisdictional tax reports by staying educated in state regulatory requirements Researches and reviews all accounting issues with an emphasis on complex accounting for gain on sale and loan loss reserves Oversee, manage, train, and mentor the following teams: GL accounting, A/P, A/R, tax, compliance, treasury and financial reporting Creates, implements and measures department objectives, policies and operating procedures Reviews, develops and provides system processes to continuously improve department and organizational efficiency Ensures proper integration of new initiatives to the general ledger Ensures that internal controls are properly instituted and exercised Ensures GAAP compliance and compliance to all jurisdictional/regulatory requirements REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Minimum of Bachelor---s Degree in Accounting or Finance, Master---s Degree preferred CPA preferred but not required if applicable experience can be proven Minimum of ten to twelve (10-12) years of professional experience Minimum five (5) years experience in senior accounting/assistant controller capacity with documented managerial experience Minimum three (3) years of increasing responsibility in an accounting department supporting a high growth company Experience in a lending environment, ideally small business lending Internal/External audit experience required Multi-state jurisdictional experience in any of the following: compliance, sales/use tax, property, franchise, excise, business tax reporting Experience in partnering with IT/Systems is critical with ability to balance technology with accounting process and build efficient business processes and controls Ability to set and achieve financial goals, budgets and cost effectiveness, Strong ability to interpret financial reports and recommend appropriate actions Works effectively with business partners and cross functionally with other departments Ability to motivate staff For direct consideration please contact Garrett at GLash(at)allianceresourcegroup(dot)com
